Rio Haminoto has been living in Shipyard Family all of his life. His uncle and father started their shipyards venture in 1953 in the city of Jakarta, just 8 years after Indonesian independence. His family shipyard company is one of the oldest Indonesian owned shipyard in the country. His uncle, Halim Gondokusumo, was probably the first private Indonesian citizen who ever built graving drydock in Indonesia.
In 1997, Rio joined the family business. Together with his father, Nicholas, and another uncle, Harry Haryono Limo, Rio is owning and managing two shipyards in Indonesia.
Rio is a graduate of The University of Oxford (UK) with Master of Science degree in Major Program Management. He finished his undergraduate degree in Government Major from Clark University (Worcester, Massachusetts). He is also an accomplished writer with 4 publications in Indonesia.close
